DAY 03 · 22 DECEMBER
Winter Solstice, shared together

Make tangyuan rice balls, begin a winter calendar and explore Songjiacheng.
Discover a seasonal tradition through making, tasting and telling your own story.
DAY 04 · 23 DECEMBER
Order breakfast in Mandarin

Learn the words for tea, steamed buns and snacks, then practise ordering.
Explore daily life on Dongguan Street and decorate a Christmas tree with Chinese knots and lanterns.
DAY 05 · 24 DECEMBER
Discover Yangzhou from the water

Try a traditional breakfast and make steamed buns, then explore the lake by boat.
Look for bridges and boats, and turn your discoveries into a page in your travel journal.
DAY 06 · 25 DECEMBER
Share a little good fortune

Visit the museums and try printing the character 福, meaning good fortune.
Make a greeting for a friend and share different ways of sending good wishes at Christmas.
DAY 07 · 26 DECEMBER
Step inside Geyuan Garden

Try on hanfu and discover bamboo and seasonal rock gardens.
Describe a favourite view in Mandarin and capture the details in your journal.

See the Yangtze and its ferries at Guazhou, bringing the rivers in your lessons to life.

Discover plants and traditional crafts

Get to know chrysanthemum, mint and dried citrus peel, and watch a weighing demonstration.
Make a sachet or plant card to take home. Materials are not tasted or used to prepare medicine.

Bring your discoveries home

Share your journal, record your poetry performance and celebrate what you have learned.
