Meet Cathy
English Teacher · Licensed Tour Guide · International Summer Camp Leader
“If I’m not in the classroom, I’m on the road.
If I’m not grading homework, I’m planning the next trip.”—Cathy
Yangzhou is my hometown. Helping children step outside the classroom and experience somewhere new is a part of my work that I love. Drawing on my experience as an English teacher and tour guide, I have led young people on international summer camps for more than ten years.
I have seen children become more confident through small, everyday experiences: sharing a meal, making a friend or finding the courage to start a conversation. With support and encouragement, they begin to feel more comfortable using another language.
I founded Each One Club to give more children these opportunities. We take young people abroad and welcome children from around the world to Yangzhou. Wherever we go, we encourage them to use the language, meet people and learn about everyday life.
In Yangzhou, I draw on my knowledge of the city and my experience leading camps to support the children. Spending time with their local Buddies gives them opportunities to practise Chinese and get to know the people who live here.
I hope each child goes home with happy memories, new friends and the confidence to try something new again.
